Cultureserve.net is an online arts journal that focuses on street art, women artists and creators of flavor around the world. The site serves up urban contemporary art to a global network of artists, activists, arts professionals, and the general public. Cultureserve’s content is written and curated with the aim of exploring intersections and pathways across race, gender, religion, class, age, nation, and high and low art. New York / www.cultureserve.net 2006-2007 Studio: The Studio Museum in Harlem Magazine – Writer. A Poetry/prose piece, Salt & Light (Matthew 5:14-16), written in response to the photographs of Adia Millett. A collaborative improvisation project between writers and visual artists that appears in Studio regularly. New York / Fall-Winter Issue 2005 High End Prejudice: Notes from the Field – Writer + Photographer. Essay for Evil Monito: Deconstructing Pop Culture magazine that juxtaposes corporate culture and peripheral culture in New York City. An extension of the PM:CI project. Los Angeles / www.evilmonito.com (Issue 21) 2004 Conscious Capitalism – Writer + Photographer. Essay for Evil Monito: Deconstructing Pop Culture that incorporates “Conscious Capitalism” quotes, from the Pimp Metaphysics: Counter Intelligence (PM:CI) series, with photos by Diana McClure, in an effort to continue to stimulate dialogue around the evolution of capitalism into a more benevolent form. Los Angeles / www.evilmonito.com (Issue 20) 2004 The Lab 101 Gallery– Photographer. Documentary photography project, Streetwise3 – LA, covering a series of 5 exhibitions, at The Lab 101 Gallery, of urban based artists/street art. SW3-LA followed Streetwise1 - London and Streetwise2 – Berlin. The series was designed to bring Urban Art into “legitimate” gallery settings. Los Angeles 2003 – 2004 Envisioning the Future/Judy Chicago project - Jury selected participant/ Digital Media. A 6 month interdisciplinary project involving arts and education in an effort to imagine, create, and exhibit diverse images of the future. Created a DVD, Future Prayers, using motion graphics, which displays photographs alongside e-mails containing prayers, meditations and thoughts collected from 40+ people on the internet. Future Prayers juxtaposes rational discourse with silent observation and comments on the movement of energy through the mind and its ability to effect personal and communal change. Pomona 2003 – 2004 Pimp Metaphysics: Counter Intelligence (PM:CI) - Columnist. Interviews with “urban culture brokers” on American culture from an entertainment, arts, and hip-hop perspective. Designed to inject critical discourse into the entertainment news and gossip space of www.thecrusade.net, the column culminated in a photo/text web installation for Evilmonito.com.
